continued with the manhattan sentence correction guide…

worked on the second chapter SUBJECT-VERB agreement(pg no 29-41)

completed the problems related to this topic from OG11.

D41,D43,1,3,21,34,41,42,52,61,70,90,116,131,138

got 11 correct out of the above 15 problems(73%)

will try to improve as i progress.

But i feel that this book is a great tool for beginners who have lost touch with grammer and who wants to brush up their basics.unlike other grammer books which focus on wide range of topics this one keep itself concerned with grammer topics which they actually test on the real GMAT test.

as per simbas recommendation i brought the book ‘how to get into the top mba programmes’ by richard monteauk.it has evrything and anything that you need to know abt an MBA.Its something like an admission bible covering all the parts of the admission process. Its a great read during the preparation as it gives an insight into the admission process and gears up the whole process.

i brought it from landmark, chennai @ 1050 bucks.its available at amazon at 20$.Do buy this book if you are serious about your MBA.

good night and good luck,

Ritz.

Back to prep after a long gap….got infested with vacation, got carried away with that and induced lathergy…

god save me…put me on the right track…

I was able to improve from 55 to 60 percent on the 1000 sc’s but i was lacking the fundamental concepts in grammer.so got hold of Manhattan sentence correction guide.will learn the grammer concepts from tht and work on the problems from manhattan and OG11 simultaneously.

completed the first chapter from Manhattan guide today

Introduction:THE 3 C’s

worked on the problems 8,11,14,33,36,44,80,101,118,120,124 from OG11.

will try to speed up thing from tomorrow…

now u can download the Manhattan book from the downloads section of this site

cheers,

i wasn’t able to chew the 100 sc’s in a single day.i managed 82 at the end of the day with an accuracy of 60.9 percent.a bit of improvement on that front.

i was quite ashamed of the repeated mistakes that i did on the last set.

i am trying to improve my grammer a bit.will start will the spideys notes before goining back to 1000 sc’s.

i felt that  few of the questions on the 1000 sc’s didnt make sense at all and they seemed to be kind of outdated stuff.anways it gives a good practice for a rookie GMAT aspirant with lot of time to spare for the preparation.

i would suggest a test taker with hardly 3-4 months of time to avoid this material as they can practice on more updated and revised materials which trail the current GMAT pattern.

now you can download the spidy’s notes from the downloads section of this site.

I knew that i was weak at SC’s…but just a few minutes back i came to the conclusion that i was as intelligent as George Bush in dealing with SC’s…

5 days gone…..and i have started with the prep at a whopping snails pace….

prep so far

read the basics of SC from the Kaplan GMAT verbal workbook

then started with the 1000 sc’s material

practiced 111 questions(29-139) and managed to strike the chord 61 times…

thats a mediocre 54.95 percent

lessons learnt

never try to guess an answer

donot repeat the mistakes

read the entire question thoroughly

use POE(process of elimination) even though you are pretty much sure about the answer

Targets

to achieve 60 percent accuracy in the next set of 100 questions from 140 to 240

the first set of 111 questions took me nearly 5 days.that’s 22 questions per day.if i keep working at this pace it will take me 22 years to complete practicing the materials that i have.i dont want my kids pointing out the errors in SC’s.so i need to improve the pace.

will try to complete the next set of 100 questions on 20th…

lets see how things shape up.

ya…you heard it right.

Amid much confusion and lots of lull i just started my preparation.

DAY 1.

I started off by taking the GMAT diagnostic test to feel the vibe of this kind of exam.i downloaded the powerprep software from the official GMAT site (www.mba.com) and gave a shot at the test one.my concentration and interest levels were par below the average and the mood was dismal

I scored 510(v-20 q-40).i still have a long way to go and have to improve by leaps and bounds.

I fared very badly in the verbal section.questions from sentence correction seemed like rocket science to me.

my skills were ok at quant.felt that i lost touch with probability, geometry, permutations and combinations.have to brush up with the math basics.

but my problems with the verbal section was tantamount compared to quant section.so i’m gonna start my prep with verbal part that too with sentence corrections.

hoping 4 a better score
